BroncoFusion is one of the biggest annual events to kick off the school year at Cal Poly Pomona. BroncoFusion is a music festival that embodies the spirit and unity of the Cal Poly Pomona student body, a day filled with music from students and a big name headliner. I was tasked with curating 11 deliverables in the span of two months.
This was the year that BEAT, the student life department at Cal Poly Pomona, wanted to take a different approach to their marketing compared to last years in where the marketing emphasized the headliner of the event. I wanted to focus on capturing the Cal Poly Pomona’s campus spirit and unity. The initial meeting with BEAT consisted of presenting three sketches. The direction that was selected comprised of illustrations of the Bronco Recreation Intramural Complex (BRIC), a nod to LA’s iconic foliage; palm trees, the surrounding mountain range, custom typography and the sun that was pushed further by colorful rays drawing inspiration from 70s rock visuals and the Pop Art movement.
