Branding & Visual Identity Design
The Southern California Pilipinx American Student Alliance, strives to empower Southern California Pilipinx collegiate organizations and students to help realize change within our community through a culture of unity, political action, professional development, and collective struggle.
As the SCPASA Public & Community Relations Director, I had the opportunity to build branding systems throughout my term from 2023-2025.

Product and Packaging Design
To foster community engagement and make Filipino culture more accessible, I designed a custom sungka board as an interactive activation for SCPASA’s tabling events across Southern California. Recognizing the need for a compelling way to engage passersby, I created this piece to invite meaningful interactions and spark cultural conversations. This activation not only drew people to our table but also served as a bridge between tradition and modern-day student organizing, reinforcing a shared sense of community.

Branding
As the overseeing body for 20+ youth and student organizations across Southern California, SCPASA needed a cohesive brand identity to strengthen recognition and communicate its mission effectively. To enhance its presence in the region, I designed a new logo and developed an 8.5” x 11” brochure, creating physical assets that reinforced SCPASA’s identity and values within the community. This resulted in a stronger presence in the region and an increase in follower engagement through SCPASA social medias by 20%.
The previous logo, although it emphasizes professionalism and readability, lacked stronger cultural identity. Younger audiences today gravitate toward authentic, raw, and culturally meaningful identities rather than polished, corporate-style branding which is the main audience for SCPASA.
By integrating Baybayin script and sun rays inspired by the Philippine flag and the intergration of the HiFi arch and handcrafted type, the design embraces Southern California Filipino heritage while keeping it fresh. The sharp yet fluid geometry reflects the community’s energy, growth, and collective power. The brand isn’t about looking polished, it’s about feeling real. It reflects the conversations, struggles, and triumphs of young Filipinx-Americans navigating identity, culture, and community in today’s world.
It’s about reclaiming identity in a way that actually speaks to the people it represents. It’s authentic, unapologetic, and built for the next generation of Filipinx-American youth.
