It Gets Better is a non-profit organization that aims at uplifting, empowering, and connecting LGBTQ+ youth around the world. It is the largest storytelling effort in the world that aims at empowering LGBTQ+ youth where they live, learn, and socialize.

As a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Chapter of AIGA Eboard, I worked alongside fellow e-board members Jennifer Avila, Jade Campos, Jasmine Guevara, Taz Alamillo, Lauren Ussery, Dom Alamario and Anthony Acock, the Department Chair of Visual Communication Design.

In the span of 24 hours, we were delegated into 4 cross-functional teams to create 30 delieverables for It Gets Better that included social media content, physical collateral, motion graphics, and experential design.

At the beginning of the 24-hour design marathon our group of 31 designers met with the It Gets Better team which consisted of CPP Alumni and Multimedia Designer, Jay Taylor, the Director of Development, Jimmy Ancheta-Tilley Jr, and the Senior Director of Communications and PR, Ross von Metzke.

For the 3D Experential Team, we were informed that It Gets Better wanted to curate a tent space for tabling at events to facilitate a sense of community. After deliberation, we were tasked with curating a visual mockup space for a 20’ x 10’ tent space and a 10’ x 10’ tent space. From there the 3D team had split into two teams one focused on 2D assets and the other on 3D assets.

I was tasked as Team Lead for the 3D Experential Design Team alongside Lauren Ussery. The team consisted of designers Nicholas Tong, Elizabeth Cabrera, Gary Palacios, Matthew Reyes & Lauren Wong.
